Durning-Lawrence was born in London in 1837 and went on to be educated at University College London. He was an MP for Truro between the years 1895-1906 but his main passion was the study of literature, especially the field of Bacon/ Shakespeare. In 1910 he wrote Bacon is Shakespeare and in 1912 The Shakespeare Myth . He died in 1914.
